About Richard Liebowitz
A Long Island native with a love for photography so deep it runs in his blood, Richard Liebowitz is a successful freelance photographer and Broadway Producer living and working in New York. He is a talented professional who has years of experience working as a photographer and photojournalist throughout the city.
While he is presently working as a Broadway producer, Richard Liebowitz built the foundation of his career at the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated in 2010 with his Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication. As a student at Penn, he was the Photojournalist and Videographer for the Daily Pennsylvanian Newspaper and a member of 34th Street Magazine, First Call Magazine, and SPEC Film Society. He was also involved in the Wharton Media and Entertainment Club while enrolled at the university.
From Penn, Richard Liebowitz enrolled at Hofstra University, where he was an involved member of the campus community. Here, he founded multiple clubs and organizations on campus that not only brought students together but also helped them plan for their future. He demonstrated and continued to build his leadership skills as an organizational leader, skills which would continue to help him throughout his career.
After graduating from Hofstra, Richard Liebowitz had the opportunity to intern with famed photographer Bruce Cotler in New York. Here he learned about photography firsthand from one of the greats, and he even wrote about the experience in a book called “Apprentice! Lessons Learned on the Frontlines of Life”.
In addition to his work as a Broadway Producer and photographer, Richard is deeply committed to giving back through the CameraCares Photography Mentorship Program. CameraCares focuses on empowering individuals in underserved communities by fostering creativity, self-expression, and professional growth through photography. As a mentor, Richard offers guidance, resources, and inspiration to participants, using visual storytelling as a tool for personal transformation and community empowerment. His work with CameraCares reflects his dedication to inclusivity and the belief that art can inspire positive change.
Currently, Richard Liebowitz is working as a Broadway Producer. He was a producer of the 2022 revival of David Mamet’s American Buffalo, which starred Darren Criss, Sam Rockwell, and Laurence Fishburne at Broadway’s Circle in the Square Theatre and began previews in March 2022. He is a supporter of all of the arts, and enjoys the opportunity to be involved in theater.
No matter how busy life gets, Richard still makes time each week to volunteer at The Bowery Mission, providing food, shelter, and clothing to the ever-growing population of New Yorkers experiencing homelessness, poverty, or hunger.
